Match preview
The 2026 FA Community Shield brought together Premier League champions Arsenal and FA Cup winners Manchester City in the traditional curtain-raiser to the new English season. With the match taking place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, both sides had the chance to begin the campaign with silverware.
Arsenal made the perfect start, taking the lead almost immediately through Riccardo Calafiori. Kai Havertz then doubled the advantage before half-time, and Martin Ødegaard added a third after the break to complete a convincing performance.
Manchester City were unable to find a response as Arsenal controlled the match and secured the first trophy of the 2026/27 season.
